Basketball Recap: Andrew Neal leads a balanced attack to beat Wake Christian Academy

Basketball Recap: Cary Christian Knights vs. Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs

There's no place like home for the Cary Christian Knights, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 61-60 win over Wake Christian Academy. The victory was just what Cary Christian needed coming off of a 63-30 defeat in their prior match.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cary Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andrew Neal, who scored 18 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gideon Landry, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.

Wake Christian Academy lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Beckett Coon, who scored 21 points along with two steals. Coon hasn't dropped below 21 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Berkley Coon, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 19 points and 2 assists.

Cary Christian's win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Wake Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cary Christian will square off against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cary Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully the Knights like a good challenge. As for Wake Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. David's has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 5.
