Softball Recap: Tuscarora Takes Down Broad Run in a Playoff Battle

Tuscarora extended their postseason success on Thursday against Broad Run. They never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. For the Huskies, this counts as revenge for the 5-1 win the Spartans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Not much got past Peyton Travis, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Broad Run off the board. Travis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tuscarora's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Whitney O'Neill, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Tuscarora is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Broad Run, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.

As of now, neither Tuscarora nor the Spartans have any future games scheduled.
