Basketball Game Preview: Forreston Cardinals vs. Pecatonica Indians

Forreston and Pecatonica are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Forreston Cardinals will venture away from home to face off against the Pecatonica Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Forreston comes in on four and Pecatonica on 23.

Forreston will head into Friday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 33-point drubbing they dealt Orangeville on Friday. Forreston blew past Orangeville 67-34. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 326th, while the Broncos are ranked 695th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Pecatonica was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Pearl City 82-43. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Pecatonica's victory was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.1 points per game. As for Forreston, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

Forreston came up short against Pecatonica in their previous matchup back in January, falling 69-57. Can Forreston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
