Softball Recap: Libby Victorious

Libby took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Stevensville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Loggers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Yellowjackets on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Loggers have posted since March 28th.

Settera Mcgreevy-White was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Allen, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Libby always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Libby is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Stevensville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.

Coming up, Libby will face off against Polson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.17 runs per game on average), something the Loggers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Stevensville, they will square off against Beaverhead County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Beavers have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
