Softball Recap: North East Grape Pickers vs. Girard Yellowjackets

North East came into Saturday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Girard Yellowjackets with a sharp 13-2 win on Saturday. The victory was just what North East needed coming off of a 10-0 defeat in their prior game.

Sydney Wittman spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 13 Ks.

On the hitting side, Alaina Rodemoyer was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Lyndsie Hill was another key contributor, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

The win got North East back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North East will take on Seneca at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Girard, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Union City at 4:00 p.m. Girard is out to stop a eight-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
