Softball Game Preview: Northeastern Eagles vs. Camden County Bruins

Northeastern is 0-10 against Camden County since March of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Bruins at 6:00 p.m. Northeastern has given up an average of 16.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Northeastern is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Camden County on Tuesday. They lost 17-0 to the Bruins.

For Camden County's part, Cayleigh Martin was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Martin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Aaliyah Anderson was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kaitlynn Barnes, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Camden County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .774. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Camden County has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Northeastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.
