Recap: Hutto Hippos vs. Sam Houston Hurricanes
Even though the Sam Houston Hurricanes scored an imposing 68 points on Thursday, the Hutto Hippos still came out on top. Hutto took their match against Sam Houston 79-68. Given Hutto's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 364th, while Sam Houston is ranked 935th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hutto's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cylin Tate led the charge by scoring 25 points along with 7 rebounds. The match was Tate's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zachary Hicks, who scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
Hutto's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Sam Houston, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Hutto's road trip will continue as they head out to face Stony Point at 12:00 p.m. on December 8th. Stony Point knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Hutto likes a good challenge. As for Sam Houston, they will be playing at home against Regents at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
