Baseball Recap: Louisburg Has No Trouble Against Durham School of the Arts

Louisburg won the last time they faced Durham School of the Arts and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Warriors blew past the Bulldogs 14-4. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Jake Layton and Mason Leonard did most of the damage at the plate: Layton went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Leonard went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Leonard is becoming a predictor of Louisburg's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 4-7 when he doesn't). Andrew Manthie was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Louisburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in five consecutive games.

Louisburg now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Durham School of the Arts, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Louisburg beat the Bulldogs by a score of 6-0 on Thursday.
