Baseball Recap: May River Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oceanside Collegiate Academy, May River was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the Pinewood Prep Panthers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. May River's win was all the more impressive since the Panthers were averaging only 2.86 runs allowed on the season.

Dylan Mischik was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Gustavo Gomez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: May River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

May River's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Pinewood Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-4.

Looking ahead, May River will take on Colleton County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Sharks are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Pinewood Prep, they will head out to square off against Wilson Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
