Basketball Recap: Prairie Comes Up Short

Prairie was the 78-45 winner over Washington when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Prairie Hawks took a 62-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Washington Warriors on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Hawks came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Warriors are ranked 77th).

Prairie's loss dropped their record down to 19-3. As for Washington, the win got them back to even at 11-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Prairie will take on Johnston at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Washington, they will challenge Iowa City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
