Baseball Game Preview: Stillwater Ponies vs. White Bear Lake Bears

The Stillwater Ponies will take on the White Bear Lake Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Stillwater's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so White Bear Lake's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Stillwater lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Woodbury, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's contest. The Ponies' pitchers stepped up to hand the Royals a 7-0 shutout on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Ponies, who have now won three games in a row.

Dylan Bloom was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over six innings pitched. Bloom was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on AJ Levy, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Runk, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, White Bear Lake didn't have quite enough to beat Forest Lake on Wednesday and fell 7-6. The loss put an end to the Bears' undefeated start to the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, White Bear Lake fell to 2-1. As for Stillwater, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Stillwater took their victory against White Bear Lake in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-2 score. Do the Ponies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
