Baseball Game Preview: St. Francis Sharks vs. Salinas Cowboys

The St. Francis Sharks will venture away from home to square off against the Salinas Cowboys at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Francis has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

St. Francis came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 21-8 to Hollister. The Sharks have struggled against the Haybalers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Jememiah Mendez and Angelo Urabe Chavez did some serious damage despite the final result: Mendez went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Urabe Chavez got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Fonseca, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Salinas suffered their closest loss since March 12th on Wednesday. They fell just short of Palma by a score of 2-0.

Andrew Gonzalez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March.

St. Francis' record is now 7-16-1. As for Salinas, their record now sits at 8-16.

St. Francis couldn't quite get it done against Salinas in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 3-0. Can the Sharks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
