Softball Recap: Northmont Comes Up Short

Springboro hit Northmont with a five-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Thunderbolts lost 9-3 to the Panthers. The Thunderbolts were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 14-3.

Northmont's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Springboro, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Northmont and Springboro should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Thunderbolts (ranked 125th) will meet Xenia (ranked 615th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Springboro will square off against Wayne at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (98 vs. 551). The timing is sure in the Panthers' favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while the Warriors have been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
