Baseball Preview: Wilson Bulldogs vs. Twin Valley Raiders
Wilson is 6-0 against Twin Valley since May of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Wilson Bulldogs will look to defend their home field against the Twin Valley Raiders at 4:15 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Wilson proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by eight) but on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Liberty out 5-3.
Jack Gabel was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Kennedy, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Twin Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Emmaus on Saturday, taking the game 8-3. The victory was just what Twin Valley needed coming off of an 18-2 defeat in their prior contest.
Roman Cieless was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Logan Crunkleton, who went 1-for-3 with a stolen base, two RBI, and a double.
Wilson's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Twin Valley, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both teams have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wilson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Twin Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.7. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
