League recap: Willis throws longest pass in league this season for Lutheran

James Willis and Joshua Claussen provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Palisade. The connection was good for 80 yards, the longest such play in 3A Metro - West this season.

Evergreen fell to Silver Creek 47-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Lutheran's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Willis threw for 298 and 1 touchdown and Claussen had 247 yards receiving. On the ground Jamil Bond chipped in 202 yards. Darian Perez helped Lutheran's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 30 yards.

Claussen had a great week catching the football as the Lions fell to the Bulldogs. He caught 7 passes for 247 yards.

Willis put up the best numbers through the air as Lutheran fell to Palisade.

Lutheran's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Lions feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Willis has thrown for 2,306 yards and 24 touchdowns this season, while Claussen has 46 catches for 1,022 yards.

He has recorded 50 catches for 974 yards this year.

Accruing a total of 17 touchdowns this year, Connor Mateer has thrown for 1,810 yards with 10 interceptions.

Greg Pearson has rushed for 978 yards on 126 carries so far this year.
