Logan (Union City, Calif.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 14 points, drop to seven before the final whistle blew on a 14-7 victory over
Liberty (Brentwood, Calif.).
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Ahki Muhammad in the second quarter, the Colts were up 6-0 at the half.
Logan grew its lead to seven points entering the fourth quarter. The Union City school scored two times in the third, including once on a kick return touchdown by Muhammad.
Liberty's lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run by
Ivan Oseguera in the third quarter.
The Colts went into the matchup giving up only 15.4 points per game. The seven points that the Lions ended with were well below their average of 26.4 coming into the game.
With the win Logan extended its winning streak to four games.
