Drew Gartman's Big Game Leads Valley View over Harding Academy

Starting off the list is Valley View's Drew Gartman, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Gartman rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns on only 18 passes. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rushing yards.

The win for Valley View keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Gartman and Valley View will challenge Wynne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 106 rushing yards dating back to last season.

For the year, Harrell has run in 9 touchdowns while averaging 127.3 rushing yards per game.

Cole Bentz Turns in Season-Best Performance

Batesville was led to victory by Cole Bentz, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Bentz threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 49 yards, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process.

The win snapped Batesville's winning streak at seven games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-4 record. Bentz and Batesville will face off against Harding Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Isaac Black Delivers Best Performance of Season

Nettleton was led to victory by Isaac Black, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Black made five total tackles (1.0 for loss) and snagged two interceptions which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.

On the year, Black has averaged 5.7 total tackles per game and for the season has 3 interceptions. He is looking even better than he did last year: after six games last season, he was only averaging 1.33 total tackles per game.
