Baseball Game Preview: Isabella Mustangs vs. Central of Coosa County Cougars

Isabella has gone a perfect 5-0 against Central of Coosa County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Isabella Mustangs will face off against the Central of Coosa County Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Isabella is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Central of Coosa County will be up against a hot Isabella squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Isabella walked away with an 8-5 win over Maplesville on Friday.

Colton Conway was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josh Thomas, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Samir Rincon also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Meanwhile, Central of Coosa County narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Anniston 9-8.

Central of Coosa County's win ended a 14-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Isabella, their record is now 4-2.

Everything went Isabella's way against Central of Coosa County in their previous matchup last Monday, as Isabella made off with a 16-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Isabella since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
