Soccer Recap: Verdugo Hills Takes a Loss

Verdugo Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Grant Lancers. That's two games in a row now that the Dons have lost by just one goal.

Their goal came courtesy of Diego Talavera, which was the first he's scored this season.

Verdugo Hills' loss dropped their record down to 2-11-2. As for Grant, their win bumped their record up to 5-6-1.

Verdugo Hills and Grant could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Verdugo Hills (ranked 1011th) will meet Chavez (ranked 388th) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Grant will square off against Arleta at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday down 458 places (815 vs. 357).
