Preview: Garfield G-Men vs. LaBrae Vikings
Garfield is 1-9 against LaBrae since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Garfield G-Men will head out on the road to face off against the LaBrae Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Garfield is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Garfield struggled with assists on Tuesday (Memorial had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Garfield was outmatched by Memorial on the road and fell 62-29. While losing is never fun, Garfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 678th, while Memorial is ranked 290th).
Despite their loss, Garfield saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Vincent Yukich, who scored ten points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Yukich has scored all season. Nick Edic was another key contributor, scoring three points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for LaBrae on the road against Champion on Tuesday as the squad secured a 82-49 victory.
Garfield's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for LaBrae, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Garfield lost to LaBrae on the road by a decisive 63-46 margin in their previous meeting back in January. Can Garfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
