Basketball Game Preview: Galeton Tigers vs. Oswayo Valley Green Wave

The Galeton Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Oswayo Valley Green Wave at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Galeton has struggled recently with 34 defeats in a row, while Oswayo Valley will arrive with four straight wins.

Galeton is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Coudersport on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Galeton was outmatched by Coudersport and fell 74-18. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 654th, while the Falcons are ranked 280th).

Meanwhile, Oswayo Valley hadn't done well against Cameron County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Oswayo Valley took down Cameron County 39-23.

Oswayo Valley pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.0 points per game. As for Galeton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-13.

Galeton took a serious blow against Oswayo Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 44-3. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Galeton was down 26-0.
