Preview: Clarksville Christian vs. Christian Community Colts
Clarksville Christian is 6-0 against Christian Community since January of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. Clarksville Christian will head out on the road to face off against the Christian Community Colts at 10:30 a.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Clarksville Christian comes in on five and Christian Community on six.
Clarksville Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They blew past South Haven Christian, posting a 81-23 victory at home. Clarksville Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 35 points or more this season.
Nevaeh Brooks and Lauren Hassell were among the main playmakers for Clarksville Christian as the former scored 18 points along with seven assists and five steals and the latter scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brooks has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alessia Nesbitt, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Christian Community proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 30) but on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Highland Rim Academy 52-50. Christian Community pushed the score to 52-30 by the end of the third, a deficit Highland Rim Academy cut but never quite recovered from.
Christian Community's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from A.C. Caverly, who scored 14 points along with three blocks. It was the first time this season that Caverly posted two or more blocks. Autumn Ray was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists and three steals.
Clarksville Christian pushed their record up to 16-9 with that win, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.2 points. As for Christian Community, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Saturday's game: Clarksville Christian have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 39% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Christian Community, though, as they've only made 29.7% of their threes this season. Given Clarksville Christian's sizable advantage in that area, Christian Community will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Clarksville Christian against Christian Community in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 64-25 win. With Clarksville Christian ahead 34-14 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
