Basketball Recap: Desert Oasis Comes Up Short

Desert Oasis saw some tournament action on Monday. They lost 57-36 to the Somerset Academy Losee Lions.

When it comes to explaining why Desert Oasis lost, don't look at Mia Baskerville. Despite the final result, she went 6 of 11 on her way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayleigh Upham, who posted four points.

Somerset Academy Losee's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayla Lewis, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine assists. With that strong performance, Lewis is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Arianna Johnson was another key player, going 5 of 7 on her way to 14 points.

Desert Oasis' defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Somerset Academy Losee, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Oasis will head out to challenge Arbor View at 6:30 p.m. on January 7th. As for Somerset Academy Losee, they will venture away from home to take on Amplus Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 6th. Somerset Academy Losee has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 182 points over their last three contests.
