Baseball Game Preview: Desert View Jaguars vs. Nogales Apaches

For the second straight game, Desert View will face off against Nogales. The Jaguars will head out to take on the Apaches at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Desert View knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Nogales likes a good challenge.

Desert View lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Nogales, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's matchup. The Jaguars put the hurt on the Apaches with a sharp 13-4 win on Monday. Considering the Jaguars have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Armando Gutierrez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Orlando Pinedo, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Cristobal Lorta, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Desert View lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Desert View has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Nogales, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7-1.
