Softball Game Preview: Mercer Island Islanders vs. Vashon Island Pirates

The Mercer Island Islanders will take on the Vashon Island Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Mercer Island is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

On Saturday, Mercer Island came up short against Lindbergh and fell 8-3.

Mercer Island got a good showing from Sienna Klopp, who struck out seven batters over two innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest hits Klopp has allowed since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Vashon Island didn't have quite enough to beat Highline on Saturday and fell 6-5. Vashon Island has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mercer Island's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Vashon Island, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Mercer Island took their victory against Vashon Island in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 20-10. Will Mercer Island repeat their success, or does Vashon Island have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
