Softball Preview: Freeman Scotties vs. Mt. Spokane Wildcats
The Freeman Scotties will face off against the Mt. Spokane Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are still undefeated (Freeman has 19 wins , while Mt. Spokane has 16).
On Thursday, Freeman made easy work of Colfax and carried off a 14-1 win. The Scotties might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Kaylee Ripke made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabel Silva, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Cierra Hayek also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
