Softball Game Preview: Dixie Heights Colonels vs. Carroll County Panthers

The Dixie Heights Colonels will square off against the Carroll County Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Dixie Heights is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Dixie Heights' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on St. Henry with a sharp 19-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Colonels in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won seven in a row.

Dixie Heights got a massive performance out of Callie Lewis, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. Ashlyn McHargue was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and four runs.

Dixie Heights was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Carroll County fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Trimble County on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 9-8.

Carroll County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Dixie Heights, their victory bumped their record up to 2-8.
