Basketball Recap: Vincent Memorial Makes It Seven in a Row on the Road

Vincent Memorial lost to Central back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Vincent Memorial Scots walked away with a 71-62 win over the Central Spartans.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vincent Memorial to victory, but perhaps none more so than JoseCarlos Acosta, who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine boards. Acosta's evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Jorge Florentini was another key player, putting up nine points along with eight assists and six steals.

Defeat or not, Central got some senior leadership from James Tovar and Daimaggio Wyatt. Tovar posted 21 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals, while Wyatt earned 21 points. That's the most points Tovar has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of David Lopez, who scored nine points and seven boards.

Vincent Memorial's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points over those games. As for Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-10.

Vincent Memorial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-60 win against Rock Academy on the 4th. As for Central, they have also already played their next matchup, a 63-59 victory against Calipatria on the 3rd.
