Basketball Game Preview: Belvidere North Blue Thunder vs. Guilford Vikings

Belvidere North hasn't had much luck against Guilford recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Belvidere North Blue Thunder are taking a road trip to take on the Guilford Vikings at 7:15 p.m.

On Saturday, Belvidere North ended up a good deal behind Kaneland and lost 61-44. While losing is never fun, the Blue Thunder can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 406th, while the Knights are ranked 45th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Guilford). They breezed by American International Academy to the tune of 80-24 on Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Vikings with their most commanding win of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Belvidere North and nudges their season record down to 6-8. As for Guilford, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.

Belvidere North might still be hurting after the 67-47 defeat they got from Guilford in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Belvidere North avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
