Softball Recap: Geneseo Find Success

Geneseo got themselves on the board against Le Roy on Friday, but Le Roy never followed suit. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Oatkan Knights, sneaking past 1-0. That's two games straight that the Blue Devils have won by just one run.

The result came thanks to Adelyn McDonald's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 19 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Geneseo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Conklin, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That hit marked the first that Conklin has got this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Geneseo and bumps their season record up to 11-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Le Roy, they moved to 7-4 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Geneseo will face off against York at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Le Roy, they will square off against Our Lady of Mercy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Oatkan Knights will need to watch out since the Monarchs have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
