Baseball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Shelbyville Central's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Shelbyville Central barely beat Sequatchie County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Shelbyville Central was the clear victor by a 15-3 margin over Sequatchie County on Saturday. Considering the Golden Eagles have won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Stephen Bobo was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Shelbyville Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was William Bobo, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Shelbyville Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .360 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Shelbyville Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. Sequatchie County's loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

As for Sequatchie County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brainerd at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Sequatchie County is facing Brainerd at the right time seeing as Brainerd is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
