Baseball Recap: Windermere Prep Victorious

The Windermere Prep Lakers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Orlando Christian Prep Warriors 2-1. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Lakers have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Matthew Kirk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks. Windermere Prep is undefeated when Kirk allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

At the plate, Windermere Prep's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Justin Wang, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Those two hits gave Wang a new career-high.

Windermere Prep's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Orlando Christian Prep, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Windermere Prep will take on Cornerstone Charter Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Orlando Christian Prep, they will square off against Orangewood Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
