Basketball Game Preview: Briggs Bruins vs. South Bulldogs

Briggs is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the South Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. South took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Briggs, who comes in off a win.

If Briggs beats South with 53 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Bruins took their game on Saturday with ease, bagging a 53-25 victory over Westland. The Bruins pushed the score to 40-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cougars had little chance of recovering from.

Briggs found their leader in sophomore Mali Woods-Laws, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards. The contest was Woods-Laws' eighth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of TeAsia Ray, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by Thomas Worthington 47-13.

Briggs was able to grind out a solid win over South when the teams last played back in January, winning 44-31. Will the Bruins repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
