Softball Game Preview: Springfield Renaissance vs. Commerce Raiders

For the second straight game, Springfield Renaissance will face off against Commerce. Springfield Renaissance will look to defend their home field on Monday against Commerce at 4:00 p.m. Springfield Renaissance has given up an average of 18.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Springfield Renaissance is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Friday. They came up short against Commerce, falling 24-5.

For Commerce's part, Adrianna Medina made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Medina has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Commerce got a massive performance out of Sheylliah Miranda, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Nylah Santa was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Commerce always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .875. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory snapped Commerce's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 3-4 record. As for Springfield Renaissance, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
