Baseball Recap: San Fernando Comes Up Short

San Fernando was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sylmar Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-0 defeat last Monday.

Ray Pelayo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, San Fernando saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Diego Romero-Salazar, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

San Fernando now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Sylmar, their win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3.

San Fernando wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 5-1 victory against Banning on the 12th. As for Sylmar, they have also already played their next contest, a 7-6 loss against Bell on the 12th.
