Baseball Game Preview: Taft Senators vs. Riverview East Academy Hawks

Taft is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will head out on the road to take on the Riverview East Academy Hawks at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Monday, Taft made easy work of Spencer Center and carried off a 14-5 victory.

Meanwhile, Riverview East Academy got the win against Gamble Montessori on Thursday by a conclusive 15-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

Arliss Estepp was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Estepp was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Riverview East Academy got a massive performance out of Elias Brown, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with seven stolen bases and three runs. Marquise Alexander was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs.

The win got Taft back to even at 1-1. As for Riverview East Academy, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Taft might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Riverview East Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Senators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
