Softball Recap: Muncy Comes Up Short

Muncy dropped their record down to 5-6 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Bucktail Bucks by a score of 12-11. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (ten), the Indians still had to take the loss.

Muncy got a massive performance out of Taylor Shannon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Jailyn Baker also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

As for Bucktail, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against Muncy since May 12, 2022.

On Bucktail's side, Carrie Ditty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and seven unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Kendall Wagner was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Makenna Stone, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Muncy will head out to take on Warrior Run at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bucktail, they will venture away from home to square off against Lewisburg at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bucks are facing the Green Dragons at the right time seeing as the Green Dragons are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
