Preview: Archbishop Curley Friars vs. Severn School Admirals
Archbishop Curley is 2-8 against the Admirals since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Archbishop Curley Friars will head out on the road to face off against the Severn School Admirals at 5:00 p.m. Archbishop Curley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Admirals are ranked 17th).
Last Monday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Archbishop Curley had to settle for a 42-40 defeat against the Cardinals. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Archbishop Curley has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Severn School entered their tilt with the Yellowjackets with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Severn School took their matchup on the road on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 80-43 win over the Yellowjackets. Severn School's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Archbishop Curley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Severn School, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Archbishop Curley ended up a good deal behind the Admirals in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, losing 63-46. Can Archbishop Curley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
