Baseball Game Preview: Anahuac Panthers vs. Tarkington Longhorns

The Anahuac Panthers will face off against the Tarkington Longhorns at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Anahuac will be strutting in after a victory while Tarkington will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Anahuac turned things around against Warren on Tuesday. They never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The result came thanks to Logan Trotter's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Anahuac saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ty Wilcox, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Wilcox also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Luke Hoagland was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Tarkington came up short against Silsbee on Thursday, falling 12-6. The Longhorns haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Tarkington's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10-1. As for Anahuac, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.

Anahuac came up short against Tarkington when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 7-4. Can Anahuac avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
