Baseball Recap: North Decatur Wins Going Away Against Tri

North Decatur barely beat Tri the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chargers blew past the Titans 15-2 on Thursday. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 13 runs or more this season.

North Decatur got a massive performance out of Matthew Fields, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Fields is becoming a predictor of the Chargers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Henry Kinker was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

North Decatur always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

North Decatur is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Tri, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Decatur will challenge Waldron at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tri, they will take on Eastern Hancock at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
