Basketball Recap: Swett Takes a Loss

Swett easily dispatched Kennedy last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Swett Warriors fell just short of the El Cerrito Gauchos by a score of 73-70 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gauchos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 71-67 back in January.

El Cerrito's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cannon Jenkins, who posted 15 points. Those 15 points gave Jenkins a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taro Raskin-Yokoyama, who put up 12 points.

Swett's loss dropped their record down to 15-9. As for El Cerrito, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Swett has already played their next game, a 58-57 victory against De Anza on the 13th. As for El Cerrito, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-41 win against Hercules on the 13th.
