Softball Preview: Southaven Chargers vs. Lewisburg Patriots
After five games on the road, Southaven is heading back home. They will take on the Lewisburg Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Friday, Southaven suffered a rough 11-1 defeat at the hands of DeSoto Central.
Meanwhile, Lewisburg put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Hernando a 6-0 shutout. The victory was just what Lewisburg needed coming off of a 14-4 loss in their prior game.
The result came thanks to Emma Abrams's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Anna Etter was incredible, going 3-for-3 with five RBI, two doubles, and a run. The team also got some help courtesy of Leona Klaire Stokes, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Southaven has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Lewisburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.
