Volleyball Game Preview: Pleasant Grove Vikings vs. Lehi Pioneers

After both having extra time off, the Pleasant Grove Vikings and the Lehi Pioneers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Pleasant Grove has struggled recently with seven losses in a row, while Lehi will arrive with three straight wins.

Pleasant Grove is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Bountiful, who was ranked ninth at the time (Pleasant Grove was ranked 19th). The Vikings lost 3-0 to the RedHawks on Friday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-19, 25-16.

Meanwhile, Lehi earned a 3-1 victory over American Fork on Friday.

The final score came out to 25-15, 24-26, 25-15, 25-20.

Pleasant Grove better keep an eye on Santiago Hernandez. He was instrumental in Lehi's win, getting 14 digs and three assists. That's the most assists Hernandez has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ty Reynolds, who had 51 assists and eight digs.

Lehi's win bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Pleasant Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-16.

Pleasant Grove couldn't quite get it done against Lehi in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 3-1. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
