Baseball Recap: Shelley's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Shelley had to endure a 17-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on the Idaho Falls Tigers with a sharp 10-3 victory on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Russets considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Kael Remington made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Shelley: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-17 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Preston Pack, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one stolen base. Lukas Johnson was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Shelley's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-16 and their overall record up to 3-18. As for Idaho Falls, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-18.

Coming up, Shelley will challenge Blackfoot at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Russets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Broncos have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. Idaho Falls does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
