Baseball Recap: West Carroll Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central, West Carroll was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on the Clarksburg Rockets with a sharp 11-3 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the War Eagles considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Cole McMinn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on R.Q. Thompson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. Those RBI were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Eli Bryant, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

West Carroll's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Clarksburg, their defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

West Carroll will have a chance to go back-to-back against Clarksburg: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
