Baseball Recap: Richwoods Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Richwoods dropped their record down to 12-9 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They lost 12-1 to the Normal Community Ironmen. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Ironmen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 on Monday.

As for Normal Community, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-4. The result was nothing new for the Ironmen, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Normal Community's part, they got a great performance from Landyn Corbin as he struck out 14 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Corbin has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Normal Community let Max Heineman and Gavin Michaels run wild. Heineman went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Michaels got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Drew Stevens, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richwoods will head out to take on Centennial at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Chargers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.11 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Normal Community, they will venture away from home to challenge Urbana at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Ironmen are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
