Volleyball Recap: Durham Academy Starts Season with Victory Against Riverside-Durham

Durham Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Riverside-Durham Pirates.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-18, 25-4.

Durham Academy was led to victory by Alice Chen and Nafas Hayati. Chen had eight digs and three aces, while Hayati had eight digs.

They weren't the only good server: Durham Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Riverside-Durham's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Durham Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Wesleyan Christian Academy on the 22nd. As for Riverside-Durham, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against Cary on the 18th.
