Baseball Game Preview: Tintic Miners vs. Pinnacle Panthers

The Tintic Miners will head out to challenge the Pinnacle Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Tintic is looking for their season's first win.

Tintic came up short against Bryce Valley on Saturday, falling 21-8.

Gavin Bratt made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Bratt is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Johnson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Pinnacle hadn't beaten Green River on the road since September 9, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Panthers won by a run and slipped past the Pirates 6-5.

Brody Howell made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Dominick Vigil and Bryson Shumway did most of the damage at the plate: Vigil went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Shumway went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Shumway a new career-high. Joey Howell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

The victory got Pinnacle back to even at 1-1. As for Tintic, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Tintic took their win against Pinnacle in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Miners since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
