Maple Grove had won 13 straight games and Amanda Swiers did her part to make it 14 on Thursday. The Crimson came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Rogers Royals for which the team can thank Swiers, who had 29 assists. She has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more assists the last nine times she's played.

Maple Grove wouldn't go down easily and took Rogers into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-15, 22-25, 12-25, 15-12.

Maple Grove's victory bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Rogers, their loss ended a nine-match streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 17-4.

Maple Grove and Rogers should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings. The Crimson will face off against Elk River at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (5 vs. 175). Meanwhile, Rogers (ranked 20th) will meet St. Michael-Albertville (ranked 60th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
