Preview: Bronaugh Wildcats vs. Northeast Vernon County Knights

Bronaugh and Northeast Vernon County are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The Bronaugh Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Northeast Vernon County Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Bronaugh is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.

Last Tuesday, Bronaugh was fully in charge, breezing past Miami 50-23 at home. The win was just what Bronaugh needed coming off of a 60-32 loss in their prior contest.

Bronaugh found their leader in underclassman Jada Brundridge, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. Brundridge has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gretchen Banes, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Northeast Vernon County scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 60-42 win over Humansville. Winning may never get old, but Northeast Vernon County sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Bronaugh's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-18. As for Northeast Vernon County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Bronaugh suffered a grim 53-28 defeat to Northeast Vernon County when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Bronaugh avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
